Tax Compliance (TC)
There are four technical questions in the TC exam and each one focuses on a specific tax: Income Tax, Corporation Tax, Capital Taxes or Indirect Taxes.
Tax is a highly technical subject and our TC tuition simplifies it by teaching you the content which is most frequently examined and grouping interrelated topics together to make learning the content much more manageable. For example, we teach National Insurance (NI) with the Income Tax aspects of employment and trading income because NI is due on employment and trading income.
Tuition is extremely exam focused and once the technical content for a tax has been taught, we will develop your exam technique by teaching you the most effective way to answer each type of exam question on that tax.
The learning strategies and exam techniques you will be taught are those which enabled your tutor to score 88% in the TC exam and win a prize from the ICAEW. This tuition approach has resulted in several of our students also scoring over 80%.
A small sample of our student feedback is included below:
I was on my last attempt of TC before deciding I needed some extra help, with Kieran's guidance I got one of my highest scores in that exam. I then went on to do my remaining 4 exams with him and passed them all first time round. His teaching method of breaking it down into the most important parts is what worked for me and also the strong emphasis on past exam papers. Can't recommend highly enough!
Victoria (TC resit student who scored 80% before going on to pass all her remaining exams first time with us)
This is the first time I have used Kieran at ACA Masters and I have already decided that he is the training provider that works best. The exposure Kieran gives you to past ACA exam papers from the beginning really assisted me in the terminology the ICAEW use at an early stage, as opposed to other providers who only give you this exposure on a revision course a few weeks before the exam. The technical knowledge phase really hones down on the large areas of the syllabus with Kieran breaking down each part of the commonly tested areas giving me a strong knowledge of all areas of the TC exam. When in our final pre-exam session our class worked out the best exam strategy to answering the questions. This gave me a clear focus by first answering the large Personal Tax question gaining as many marks and building my confidence during the exam which then ran through to the end of the paper. I would, and have, recommended Kieran to other staff members within the practice.
Dale (TC student who passed first time with us with a score of 70%)
I found the ACA Masters classes to be incredibly useful alongside the provision of comprehensive and thorough materials. Not only was the theory covered in all the sessions, but the exam techniques and pro- formas provided were extremely useful for the format of the tax exam. In addition to this, I very much found the link between exam preparation and the knowledge prepared me well for the exam and enabled me to enhance my exam practice and achieve the mark I did. Thanks Kieron for all your help, and I would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to undertake the ACA qualification.
Rupi (TC student who passed first time with us)
Having sat and failed the ACA TC exam a couple of times, Kieran was able to help me pass this. Very down to earth and easy to get on with, with a training programme focusing on the core skills required to pass the exams.
Jonny (TC resit student who passed first time with us)
The bit of the course I found most helpful were the sessions at the end that solely focused on exam papers and how to approach each question. I think it definitely helped me do better in TC as I had failed quite a few times before that. The layout of answers was also quite helpful. I like the way each one was split up into a topic so that you could focus on that before and after the class. I feel like it went at the right pace. I would definitely recommend the course to other students.
Victoria (TC resit student who passed first time with us with a score of 82%)
The slides and excel docs with the pro-formas were very helpful. They were nice and concise, easy to follow and really helped when revising. I think the most useful thing about the course I found was how you went through the exam questions and gave demonstrations on how to answer/tackle each question. This really allowed me to become more comfortable with answering exam questions.

Further detail on how our approach differs from other tuition providers is included in our 'How to Pass the TC Exam' article.
To get you through your TC exam, we offer classroom tuition, online tuition and one-to-one tuition. It is possible to combine different methods of tuition.
TC Classroom Course - London
Our TC classroom course comprises six classes which are held on Saturdays in central London. Each of the first four classes will focus specifically on one of the four technical exam questions and you will be taught: the essential technical content for each tax; the most effective way to read and work through the exam paper; the key things to look out for in exam questions; and most importantly, the specific technique you should use when typing your answer in the exam.
Tuition is extremely exam focused and we will work exclusively with past paper questions from recent exams to ensure that you get up to the required standard as soon as possible – rather than wasting time with ‘warm-up’ questions.
Our TC Master Plan categorises all the past exam questions by topic, so that after each class you can go and practice your newly acquired exam technique skills on similar questions and watch your marks drastically improve (hopefully you will join our growing list of prize winners!)
You will also be coached on how to study effectively, how to structure your revision and be guided as to what you need to do to pass the ACA exams with top marks.
The course is structured as follows:
1. Income Tax
2. Corporation Tax
3. CGT and IHT
4. VAT, Stamp Duty and Ethics
5. Exam Technique Masterclass 1
6. Exam Technique Masterclass 2
There are two payment options for the TC classroom course.
Option 1: Pay As You Go
Tuition fees are £150 per class.
Option 2: Full Course
For students attending all 6 classes, the tuition fee is reduced to £130 per class.
Therefore, the full cost of the course is £780.
The full course includes:
- Access to our online TC classes which can be used as a revision resource (see below).
- Access to our Principles of Tax classes as most need a refresher on the brought forward content.
- Our TC Learning Notes: easy-to-use summary of examinable content (see below).
- Our TC Master Plan: a detailed step-by-step study plan (see below).

Tuition is held in central London on Saturdays. Each class has a maximum of 12 students. This small group format ensures that the tutor can dedicate sufficient attention to each individual student, whilst at the same time building a collaborative learning environment where questions can be freely asked. This small group format has proved highly effective for our current and former students and is a contributing factor to our exceptionally high student pass rate. Students are also encouraged to act as ‘study buddies’ outside of formal tutoring hours.
Online TC Course
As it is not possible for all students to attend our classroom in London and because the course is often fully booked, our prize-winning Senior ACA Tutor Kieran Doe has recorded an online video course. The online course teaches the same content and exam techniques as the classroom course. Many students prefer the online course to live tuition as each class can be viewed as many times as you need to ensure that you have mastered the topic. The course also offers a lower cost option whilst yielding the same benefits as live tuition.
Each class focuses on a frequently examined topic and explains the key technical concepts in a simplified way, before demonstrating the optimal exam technique by working through recent past exam questions in full. You will be taught the most efficient way to read, interpret and analyse the exam paper and most importantly, the specific technique you should use when typing your answer. This includes practical advice on how to make effective use of your open book when answering questions.
Having understood the technical content and exactly how you should be approaching a particular type of TC exam question, you can then go and attempt similar past exam questions to put these prize-winning exam technique skills to the test and watch your marks drastically improve - hopefully you will join our growing list of prize winners! Our TC Master Plan (see below) categorises all the past exam questions by topic to make it easy for you to practice similar questions after each class. This enables you to conquer TC by mastering one area at a time.
The course is structured so that it covers each examinable area and each type of TC exam question.
The course structure is as follows:
Income Tax - Basics
Income Tax - Employment Income and NI
Income Tax - Trading Income and NI
Income Tax - Trading Losses
Income Tax - Property Income

TC Learning Notes
Our prize-winning ACA tutor, Kieran Doe, has developed our unique TC Learning Notes which concisely summarise the essential technical knowledge you need to pass the exam.
As explained in our 'How to Pass the TC exam' article, this enables you to focus on the essential content for each topic and then test yourself by reproducing the condensed content on a blank page. This will force you to actively recall the information so that it is embedded in your brain ready to use for exam questions.
The notes include:
Easy-to-use summarised technical notes for each subject area
Calculation proformas and reminders
A small sample is included at the bottom of this page.
TC Master Plan
To ensure that you use your study time as effectively as possible, we have broken the syllabus down into 'examinable topics' so that you can allocate your time to specific examinable topics. For each topic, we have referenced the essential ICAEW Study Manual reading and listed the recent past exam questions which examined the topic. There is also a reference to how frequently the topic is examined, the extent to which it is examined and the online TC class which demonstrates the exact exam technique to use for that type of question.
A small sample is included at the bottom of this page.
Payment and Delivery
The price for the TC Learning Notes and the TC Master Plan is £35. You can purchase by clicking below; if you wish to use another payment method then please contact us.
